What should I expect?

We are known as a friendly church. Everyone is welcome. When we gather as the church, we want to celebrate Jesus and grow in our relationship with Him. Expect to be greeted. Expect to be loved. Expect to be encouraged. Expect to be challenged.

What is a typical worship service like?

When we gather for worship we sing, pray, give, and learn from the Bible. We sing to celebrate what God has done for us. Our music selection in worship could best be described as blended, because we are a blended congregation. Like a good buffet, we want there to be something for everyone. But regardless of the style, all of our music is intentionally selected to lift up Jesus. The music portion of our worship services are led by our worship pastor, praise team, band, and choir. We take up an offering during each of our worship services. Though no one is pressured to give, it is important for our members to give our tithes and offerings as a part of our worship to God. (The word “tithe” means tenth and serves as a basis for our giving.) Also during each service, our pastor will read and preach from the Bible. The Bible is God’s Word. He speaks to us through His Word, so it is important that we listen, learn, and follow its teachings.

What do I wear?

“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” 1 Samuel 16:7. You will find a wide range of clothing at North Highlands. Some wear jeans, others khakis, you may even see a tie or two. The bottom line is, we don’t care what you wear, we just want you to come.

Where do I park?

We have plenty of parking in the front and back of the church. We also have special designated parking for visitors clearly marked at the front of the church building.

What do you have for my kids?

We love kids at North Highlands. No babysitting allowed! We believe that children can learn about Jesus at very young ages. We take our role of partnering with parents to point kids to Jesus very seriously. But we also have a lot of fun! We also make security and safety a priority. Every children’s worker must first pass a background check before they are allowed to be with our kids.

How do I become a member?

Membership is important. It’s a way for us to connect and commit to each other as a church body. But the most important thing is having a relationship with God through Jesus. Without this nothing else matters. If you would like to become a member of North Highlands, simply come forward during the invitation at the end of one of our worship services and tell one of our pastors and tell them you’d like to join North Highlands. We’ll then introduce you to one of our decision counselors who will pray with you and encourage you.

Should I be baptized?

Baptism is a beautiful picture of what God has already done inside of us as Christians. It does not save you. We are baptized to follow the example and command of Jesus and to publicly identify with Him. It is a picture of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and a sign of the new life that we have in Him. Every Christian should be baptized after they place their faith in Jesus.
